Pickleball is a paddle sport that has recently gained popularity in the United States and is considered the fastest growing sport in the country.[0] It is a combination of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong, and is played on a badminton-sized court with a perforated plastic ball and paddles roughly twice the size of table tennis paddles.[1] There are currently 10,000 facilities nationwide registered with the USA Pickleball Association, most of which are outdoors and can’t be utilized during the winter season or inclement weather.[2]

Ace Pickleball Club, led by founder and CEO Jay Diederich and co-founder and president Joe Sexton, is set to debut their innovative indoor pickleball facilities, featuring between eight to sixteen regulation size courts in a climate-controlled environment, in early 2023. The facilities will provide the optimal player experience with vibrant music, on court technology for live streaming and instant replay, and social and event space.

In addition, new pickleball courts are being installed in a number of communities in Johnson County, including Youngs Creek Park in Franklin and Craig Park in Greenwood.[3] Further, public sports facilities have been renovated or upgraded to accommodate pickleball courts, including Midway Memorial Park and J. Bryan Floyd Community Center.[1]

The health benefits of pickleball are numerous.[4] A recent study published in the International Journal of Research in Exercise Physiology showed that regular pickleball playing resulted in improved blood pressure and cardiorespiratory fitness in middle-aged and older adults after six weeks of playing three times a week for one hour.[5]

Ace Pickleball Club will begin offering franchises for development across the US in February of 2023, with Roswell, GA being the first to open. Investors in the club include Andy Stenzler, Doug Birer, Eric Simon, Nena Mass, Tabish Jesrai, Mohammad “Musto” Omar, Workweek Capital, and Wendy Selevitch.[2]
